Bayern Munich were able to get a comfortable return back to action after the team managed a 2-0 to Hertha Berlin. Robert Lewandowski’s penalty and a late goal from Benjamin Pavard were able to hand a seventh consecutive victory for Bayern in all competitions. Due to the lack of competition from other clubs, it looks like Bayern will seal the title with relative ease. However, Frankfurt will be visiting the Allianz Arena looking to spoil the party even though Frankfurt themselves did not have the best to return to Bundesliga action after a 3-1 loss to Mönchengladbach.
The Copa America 2021 will witness a number of star players taking to the field in the hope of winning the Golden Boot award at the end of the tournament. This makes it rather difficult to predict the winner of the top scorer title. Some of the top names competing would be Neymar of Brazil, but it is better to look at alternatives instead of going with this option since the price for Neymar is not so great. Furthermore, Brazil will be lining up with a single striker at the top and this is likely to be Gabriel Jesus or Roberto Firmino. Both players are expected to be rotated over the course of the tournament and this also significantly reduces their chances of winning the ultimate prize.
The Copa America 2021 will witness some of the best teams in South America battle for this prestigious prize. Brazil coming to the competition in Colombia as the defending champions.
Manchester United and Chelsea have received a potential boost in signing Moussa Dembele from Lyon this summer. The Frenchman was the subject of a transfer approach from Frank Lampard’s side last month but Les Gones made it clear that they would not sanction the sale of the striker at the halfway stage of the league campaign.
However, it appears that they won’t block his departure at the end of the campaign with club president Jean-Michel Aulas hinting over the same, he told reporters: "We already have a certain number of offers for our players for summer. We sell the players who want to leave to where they want to go.”
Crystal Palace entertain Arsenal in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off at Selhurst Park. Palace have experienced a positive season by their standards and they are currently ninth on the table with a two-point advantage over Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. Roy Hodgson’s side go into the game on the back of a three-match unbeaten run where they have accumulated five points.
Arsenal suffered yet another humiliating Premier League defeat on Sunday evening at the front of their fans or more correctly couple of fans who are either homeless or just wanted to skip dinner to avoid talking to their family members.
Graham Potter was seen as a saviour for Brighton after the club picked up a 3-0 victory over Watford in the first game of the season. However, it has been a downhill slide for the Seagulls ever since. Brighton have now slipped to 16th place in the table and they have only picked up three points from the last six games. The upcoming assignment for the club is extremely tough as they are up against Spurs at home. Brighton have been unable to pick up home victories, as the team has failed to beat the likes of West Ham, Southampton, and Burnley.
Last weekend brought us a derby match between Manchester United and Liverpool, and that was the first game for the Reds to lose two points. There is a number of exciting matches in the 10th round and we are going to highlight some of them.
Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur
Another derby match is ahead of Liverpool and they want to get back on winning track after drawing with Man Utd at Old Trafford. Jurgen Klopp’s is sitting on the top of the table being six points ahead of the defending champions Manchester City. Mohamed Salah and the lads are very productive in the front, while their defending is one of the best in the league.
Chris Wilder will be delighted at his team
occupying a top six position in the Premier League. However, his delight may be
short lived considering that Liverpool are in town this weekend. The defending
European champions have a 100% record in the Premier League after the recent
success over Chelsea. The Reds have already built up a five-point advantage
over Manchester City and Klopp will not be looking to drop points against a
newly promoted outfit.
The weekend’s clash at Goodison Park could be a potentially gloomy affair, with neither the Toffees nor Wolves having set the Premier League alight with their performance. In fairness to Wolves, they have had the excursions of the Europa League and that has somewhat contributed to their three successive draws to start the Premier League campaign.
Still, Nuno’s side can take heart from the fact that they have given a good account of themselves without getting beaten. The Wolves face another stern test of their credentials against the Toffees on Sunday, considering they will go into the game on the back of the second leg of the Europa League playoff against Torino.
