MONEY ON SPURS

Tottenham Hotspur have made a good start to the Premier league season, but they have found it difficult to score goals even after spending a lot of money on attacking players like Roberto Soldado and Lamela.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas recently criticised the home fans for lacklustre atmosphere at the White Hart Lane for the recent home match against Hull. Tottenham were likely to come away from this match with a 1-0 win. They will be looking to improve on their performance when they take on Newcastle on Sunday.

Newcastle come into the match on the back of a huge win over Chelsea last weekend. It was a win that came at a least expected moment, but Alan Pardew's men have been very inconsistent this campaign. It would not be surprising to see them suffer a defeat against Tottenham. As a result, they are backed at 11/2 by major bookmakers. Due to the impressive home form this season, one cannot see much returns by betting on a Tottenham victory since they are rated at around 8/15 to win the match.

Given the home team's inability to score a lot of goals, a draw at 4/1 seems like a great odd ahead of the first match on Sunday.

"It is still early in the season but if we can keep all our players fit, I am sure we will be looking for the same as last year - which was to try and get in the top four. That is always a main aim. We also like to do well in the cups and Europe. We want to stick in with everything. We do not want to go out of one competition just to concentrate on another. We want to go for the best of everything," said Tottenham defender Kyle Walker ahead of the encounter.
