Chelsea Bookmakers Favourite to Win against Crystal Palace

Chelsea have a tough London derby against Crystal Palace this weekend as they hope to set a new club record of 11 successive victories in one campaign.

Even though it will be against a team that has conceded a large number of goals and lost 21 games in 2016, bookmakers are expecting it to be a tough game for Antonio Conte’s team nonetheless. Chelsea have an impressive record away at Selhurst Park, which should especially give the table leaders a lot of confidence. However, they would have seen Crystal Palace put in a shift in the 2-1 loss against Manchester United in a few days ago.

It was an impressive result for Alan Pardew’s team, who have been fighting with a relegation throughout the campaign. In fact, 2016 has been a disappointing calendar year for the club. Even though the process a number of excellent forwards like Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha, they have been let down by the weak defence.

The 5-4 game against Swansea a few weeks ago in which eight of the goals came from set pieces was a perfect example of the same. Since Chelsea are frugal in defence, the game is not expected to see more than 2.5 goals.

In terms of a victory, Chelsea are the favourites and are backed at 1.6. It is a strong position, but one of the best odds has to be the possibility of Chelsea in the gap with a clean sheet once again. In the last 10 matches, the blues have kept more than five clean sheets and have been impenetrable at the back. Bookmakers are once again expecting a repeat of the same even though Crystal Palace have a strong attack, which almost scored twice against United in the midweek action. Following this game, there would be a 10 day break before the games resume on Boxing Day.
