Barcelona vs Bayern Munich

The Estadio da Luz in Lisbon plays host to the third Champions League quarter final between Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Bayern have been in exceptional form over the past nine months where they have not suffered a single defeat and during this period, they have won 26 of their 27 matches across all competitions.

As a result, they are regarded as the favourites for the upcoming European clash and the form of Robert Lewandowski could be pivotal to them making it to the final four of the competition. The Poland international has been in stunning touch over the course of the campaign and he has amassed 53 goals from just 44 appearances across all competitions.

Out of those, he has netted 13 times from just seven Champions League games this term and the Blaugrana have a task on their hands to prevent him from scoring. They recently beat Chelsea in the round of 16 stage by a comfortable 7-1 aggregate score. Meanwhile, the Blaugrana have reached the last eight of the competition after a 4-2 aggregate win over Napoli.
Despite this, there are doubts over the title credentials, considering they ended their league campaign on a disappointing note with points dropped in four of the final 11 matches. That saw them leapfrogged by Real Madrid to the league crown and they are facing the prospect of going trophyless, suppose they are unable to win the Champions League.
With the presence of Lionel Messi, the Blaugrana are capable of finding the back of the net, but the question remains whether they can outscore Bayern. We are not fancying them to do so. The German champions should get the better of the Blaugrana to reach the semi-final. It won’t come as a surprise, if Lewandowski is the standout performer on the night.
