Arsenal vs Chelsea – FA Cup final

At the beginning of August, we would probably be anticipating the start of a brand new football season, but the unexpected break due to the coronavirus pandemic has meant that the English domestic season has yet to conclude.On Saturday, the FA Cup final will be contested at the Wembley Stadium and it will be an all-London affair between Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Gunners were deemed as the underdogs for the semi-final clash against Manchester City, but they managed to outsmart them with a 2-0 win after a resolute defensive display. Likewise, Chelsea got the better of City’s rivals Manchester United. The 3-1 victory was the club’s first win over the Red Devils since the 2018 FA Cup final.

Arsenal have good history at the Wembley, having won three of the previous six editions of the FA Cup and that includes the 2017 final where they beat the Blues by a 2-1 score. Still, they are likely to be deemed the underdogs for the upcoming contest, considering the Blues are in a much better shape offensively than them.
The Gunners’ success is mostly dependent on how Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fares in particular but the same can’t be said about the Blues, who have multiple scoring outlets. Former Gunners Olivier Giroud is currently the man of the moment with seven goals from his previous eight games, but Willian and Christian Pulisic have also caught the eye since the restart with four goals apiece.
Both teams will definitely lineup with a three-man central defence to restrict the other from scoring and the game could be decided by the odd-goal. We are fancying Chelsea to come up triumphs by a 2-1 scoreline and Giroud could be the man of the moment. The Frenchman has scored in just one previous game against Arsenal and that was the Europa League final in Baku last term, where the Blues won by a 4-1 score. He also bagged two assists during that encounter.
