Orlando City succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Toronto FC in their previous Major League Soccer outing.

Jozy Altidore pulled Toronto ahead with an 18th minute opener from close range. Sebastian Giovinco therein doubled the lead for the Canadian-based club just a minute into the second-half. Carlos Rivas managed to make it 1-2 for Orlando on the night but Giovinco’s brilliant free-kick in the 65th minute sealed all three points for Greg Vanney’s side. On the other hand, Atlanta United enjoyed a fairly routine win over San Jose Earthquakes, but the game was marred with disciplinary issues.

Tommy Thompson gave the lead for the Earthquakes in just the second minute. However, the Earthquakes were made to play with ten men in the latter stages of the first-half after Kofi Sarkodie was sent off for two bookable offences. Atlanta followed to dominate the play in the second period with Carlos Carmona levelling things from close range in the 55th minute before Josef Martinez made it 2-1 for the Eastern Conference club. Chris Wondolowski netted a coolly slotted volley for the Earthquakes to make 2-2 on the night, but Atlanta maintained the pressure with goals from Anton Walkes and Martinez sealing a 4-2 victory. To make things worse, Victor Bernardez was sent off for the Earthquakes in the final minutes of the game after he was alleged to have stamped on his opponent’s head.

Orlando City are currently placed fifth in the Eastern Conference following the defeat at the hands of Toronto. The club have endured a mixed run of form in the league with just a single win in five outings, and they will hope to come up with a positive result versus Atlanta. Cyle Larin is the club’s top-scorer with eight goals in 17 matches. Meanwhile, Atlanta have performed slightly better than their division counterparts with three victories in their last five games. However, it has been their home form which has propelled them further up their table with a 100 percent record over the past two months. Josef Martinez is the club’s top-scorer with nine goals in as many games.

Despite holding home advantage, Orlando are backed at 3/10 to clinch all three points with Orlando City deemed favourites at 2/11. A draw could be a preferable result for either side and odds of 23/10 have been offered.
