ENGLAND FAVOURITES OVER SPAIN

England are believed to be the favourites when they meet with Spain in a friendly match on Tuesday.

Both teams are expected to slug it out on Tuesday night with the Three Lions hosting the much-awaited game at Wembley Stadium. In the last decade Spain have been a major force in international football. However, they have been failing to live up to expectations in the last few years. In the last two major international tournaments – the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the Euro 2016 in France – Spain have disappointed many.

Spain manager Julen Lopetegui has enjoyed a decent run so far since taking over but he would be without some key players going into this game. Highest goal scorer so far in the English Premier League Diego Costa, Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, and Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos are some of the stars set to miss the game. On the other hand, England would be without Spurs’ talisman Harry Kane.

Soccer pundit, Charlie Nicholas told Sky Sports that he thinks the English side have the advantage going into the clash with the Spanish squad

“I watched Spain midweek as I was out there for a few days and they weren’t really impressive, despite running out 4-0 winners against Macedonia. I know they’ll bring back a couple of better players but there’s no Diego Costa, they don’t pick Cesc Fabregas, which for the life of me I don’t understand, and they’re missing their best centre-backs,” Nicholas said

He opined that Man City’s playmaker David Silva remains one of the best players in the team. Soccer betting sites say Silva has 9/2 to 11/2 chance of scoring in the game as other stars are missing. After meeting expectations by defeating Scotland 3-0 on Friday, Nicholas says they are favourites.
“The momentum should be behind Gareth Southgate, but if they do win don’t start telling me they’re going to win the World Cup,” he added.
