The Juventus manager Antonio Conte has said that he feels that he is being made to look like a scapegoat after being banned for 10 months from management for his role in the match fixing and soccer betting.

Italy has not been short of match fixing scandals in the last few years. By far the biggest one came in 2006, but the year 2012 has seen match fixing to a smaller extent. A number of parties have been investigated and trials have been conducted over this issue. After all the trials, a number of persons have been found guilty of assisting in one way or the other for match fixing and soccer betting.

The Juventus manager Antonio Conte, who led his team to the title for the first time in nine seasons, has been one of the big names found guilty of match fixing and soccer betting. He has been given 10 month ban from all levels of football. As a result, he will not be able to fight towards retaining the title with Juventus. After the decision was announced, the manager said that he is extremely surprised by the decision and feels that he has been made to look like a scapegoat in this issue.

“I am the object of slanderous accusations, to make me out to be the public face of a football betting scandal. I have never bet in my life,” said the manager after the announcement of the decision to ban him from football for 10 months. As a result of this ban, Juventus will be resorting to the assistant manager Massimo Carrera to be in charge of the team until he returns to football. Juventus will be starting the new season with a home match against Parma, and Massimo Carrera has already targeted three points from this match.
